Expert meeting on children and transitional justice12-13 June 2008The world has witnessed a growing threat of armed conflicts and 'internal wars' over the past decade and a half. Children are among those most affected and, in many instances, have been targeted for killings, disappearances, underage recruitment, sexual violence, torture and other grave violations of their fundamental rights. The UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre has convened the meeting to establish a network of practitioners, academics, child rights advocates and legal experts to increase knowledge-sharing of experiences, good practices and lessons learned, and to promote the participation of children and adolescents in truth, justice and reconciliation processes in post-conflict situations.
